We told you earlier in the summer about the Southern Poverty Law Center, a left-wing activist group that attempts to besmirch the reputations of conservative and Christian groups by sticking them on lists alongside neo-Nazi and white supremacist groups, claiming they are all "hate groups." And we told you in the same piece how the media uncritically cites the SPLC as an authoritative source on who is and isn't a hate group.
One group the SPLC claims is a "hate group" is the conservative Christian organization called the Family Research Council. The FRC advocates conservative positions on social issues, based on biblical teachings. You can disagree with this if you want, but it's completely insane to call them a "hate group." But the SPLC did just that, and Casey Mattox will never forget the day one guy decided to take matters into his own hands after perusing the list:
