After House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R., La.) was shot during the assault on a Republican congressional baseball practice back in June, you could practically - and in some cases literally - hear the glee in left-wing voices. The ghouls came out on Twitter and had a grand ol' time chuckling about how the GOP had finally reaped what it had allegedly sewn. It was grotesque, but it's something we've come to expect.
After the initial celebration died down, lefties started to suggest that maybe, finally, those who "bitterly cling" to their constitutional rights would learn their "lesson."
