An open letter on Veteran’s Day

There are days when I wonder just why it was God made man ascendant over all of the other creatures he chose to inhabit the face of the earth.

Disprove a negative

Herman Cain is still in the spotlight. Another woman has come forward to proclaim she was harassed and damned near molested while driving in a car, in traffic and without success. He allegedly managed to get his hand under her skirt, move it toward her privates and then try to push her head toward his lap.

A quantum of understanding

Occasionally we must question what is simplistically asked by children. Like: can you make something from nothing?

Bottom feeders and cannibals

This latest effort to assure the Republican Party self-immolates is proving successful. The furor over charges of sexual harassment by Herman Cain has started taking its toll. A once burgeoning campaign is coming off the rails and doing it faster than Casey Jones on the Cannonball Express.

Different doesn’t mean better

Last week was a loser for me and some friends, acquaintances and colleagues. In a theatrical sense somebody might have titled it: “Week of the Dying Computer”. It seemed like everybody either crashed, bombed or let the holy smoke from the interior workings of these little communications marvels. My personal disaster required the purchase of a whole new unit.

Lift the veil

Political correctness is America’s newest form of intolerance, and it is especially pernicious because it comes disguised as tolerance. It presents itself as fairness, yet attempts to restrict and control people’s language with strict codes and rigid rules. I’m not sure that’s the way to fight discrimination. I’m not sure silencing people or forcing them to alter their speech is the best method for solving problems that go much deeper than speech.--George Carlin

Sirocco

Sirocco: any hot, oppressive wind, esp. one blowing toward a center of low barometric (political?) pressure. The last few months have tested the American people’s patience. We’ve endured one of the greatest exhibitions of self-service in the history of politics: The Republican Party Presidential Candidate Debates. Some say, there’s been no greater example of hot air exchange since the development of the heat pump. It’s fitting the latest took place in Las Vegas, a city in the middle of a desert. It’s hot and was once barren until “special interests” took over and developed the area.

Rotten at the top

Okay. Why is it everybody thinks a problem, 30 years in the making, is going to be fixed with an airhead declaring victory and we all go home? Is economics so easily manipulated a person can simply issue a diktat and the rest of us all fall into line like good little lemmings and play follow the leader off of a cliff? Does the White House really believe its own press releases?

Nanny state

Occupy Wall Street is a protest happening as we speak. It seems many people involved are disenchanted with the way Wall Street has functioned over the years. They want to tear down that which brought them to the point they enjoy right now.

To Tour Elba

Obama’s on the stump again. He couldn’t convince a blind, deaf Neanderthal his latest challenge to Congress isn’t campaign rhetoric. The guy now carries the relevance of a callus. What relative good does it do? Is it of benefit because it cushions a body part from the pressures exerted on it; or is it useless skin (cracked and incapable of yielding) and is thus restrictive of forward movement?

Hype; not Hope

Stimulus One. Obamacare. Stimulus Two: American Jobs Act. Programs advertising elemental cures for what ails America. Obama’s failing to deliver. In a contest to only be described as Madison Avenue versus Pennsylvania Avenue, we were led to believe Hope alone would foster Change.

Infallibility

Which topics will be debated by the Supreme Court of the United States of America (SCOTUS)? Will they address Obamacare? Will the inscrutable justices decide on the propriety and exercise of the 10th amendment? Can people be forced (by virtue of the Commerce Clause’s over-reach and control of things commercial) to buy what they don’t want?

Spokes

To say we have a great form of government is an outright understatement. We have three separate, independent hubs supporting our societal bond’s outer ring. Most other countries only lust after it. By our Constitutional mandate, one spoke is meant to support the others while keeping fast its own integrity. Weakened substance and poorly crafted construction are the only things that can menace this system.

The Fed III

On initial observation, the Federal Reserve System is pretty much straightforward, But, any organization can be perceived in one way when it’s really something else. The Fed appears an organization benefiting the people, it’s really self-serving and totally dedicated to one thing--MONEY. And, in NO way can it be assumed it’s your money we’re talking about.
