(Michael Corleone, Godfather III 1990) I decided I needed a couple of days off and sat heavily in a world of confusing ideas and fear of stepping forward into new endeavors. Today, January 31, 2014, the headline in Politico was: “House leaders sell immigration blueprint.” It was a copyrighted story detaining the prevailing apparent thoughts being bandied about in caucus and privately amongst the Republican hierarchy in the House of Representatives.

An Open Letter

Mr. Obama, I address this letter to you concerning your recent statements pertaining to your belief Rush Limbaugh and Fox News are responsible for your being viewed as a caricature. Also it’s your statement you are being prevented from engaging with the rank and file Republicans and conservatives.

Upon taking a look at the Affordable Care Act debacle presently sweeping across the land and affecting everybody needing insurance coverage and abusing every taxpayer, it must be admitted the chief administrator of this is a proven idiot: and I don’t mean in the savant sense. Now we’re in danger of having to subsidize insurance companies so they participate in the program.

What to do?

Global warming. Climate change. Algore-ming. Unsubstantiated claims of global climate change? Ultra-leftist silliness. Greenie/tree hugger apologism for normal human progress and activity? Computer modeling gone awry? Science without common sense denial of evidence? (Their computer model selectively deletes whole time periods that don’t agree with the 'warming' theory.) It means there are people in government feel they’re superior to the elected president of the United States.

Tuesdays suck a big, wet washrag. There’s nothing new happening. Chris Christie’s getting hammered because of the stupid, juvenile actions of a minion while Beaurat Obama still hasn’t suffered sanction for his plethora of debacles i.e. : Benghazi-gate, Fast and Furious, IRS interference in the tax-exempt status of conservative elements and ObamaCare.

Redstate is a conservative website piloted by a gentleman named Erick Erickson. His daily commentary and insight is a major part of my early morning routine as I find Mr. Erickson’s viewpoint to be close to my own and as they say “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery”. I don’t consider myself his equal.

Former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates levels harsh judgments about President Obama’s leadership and his commitment to the Afghanistan war in a new “tell-all” book; “Duty: Memoirs of a Secretary at War” based on his personal experience of sufferance under Obama’s administration. Gates concluded by early 2010 the president “doesn’t believe in his own strategy, and doesn’t consider the war to be his. For him, it’s all about getting out.”

It’s Roddenberry’s fault

This is all Gene Roddenberry’s fault. Recently, I started a quest to understand economics. I already had an awareness of Capitalism, Marxism, Socialism, Communism and many other “isms” plaguing the world. I use the word “plaguing” advisedly because nothing is surer than a war; the deaths resultant from that war and the reshaping and reconstruction of nations and their relations with each other will be a result of economics.

When I was a kid, about a gazillion years ago, I watched a circus acrobat dance on a hire-wire. She appeared beautiful, svelte and carefully coifed as she balanced desperately close to her personal destruction. She was no more than a footprint from falling and no more than a moment from disaster. She hopped and skipped in a concentrated effort to not only entertain the audience with a display of acrobatic skill but she would show her colleagues she could deliver the audience. She could enthrall them with her ability to make the audience watch her while pick-pockets worked their trade on the people walking through the side-shows.

Free Air

Recently, one of my publishers, a man I admire, had a health scare. Both he and I share several things: a love for our God, our families, our fellow man and our country. We also share a health diagnosis of Congestive-Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

In a land once known as America, there was a golden age. People wrote down their ideas and ideals of what good government was composed of, how it should be operated and what was necessary to maintain the proper operational program assuring those ideas and ideals maintained their uppermost position of importance. Who knew irony would step in and allow those principled, idealistic pursuits: freedom and liberty and justice, would be used against the people it was originally drafted to protect?

Taking A Stand

Approximately a bazillion years ago, while a student in junior high school (now referred to as middle [muddle?] school. A very serious action took place forcing me take a stand. The entire situation started when (what we then called) a juvenile delinquent produced enough salivary output to rain spit all over the desk and chair of the Assistant Principal of the school. It was a disgusting, grossly unsanitary, supremely disrespectful action taken because this idiot was constantly in that office after breaking school rules. He was regularly in detention for his acts. As we were in queue to practice our march toward 8th grade “graduation” the moron felt nothing would come about from his actions. Many kids were in close proximity as he spit all over the place. Many more saw it and said nothing, choosing to avoid confrontation rather than be uncomfortably hung with the title of “rat”.
