Sometimes a duck is just a duck, but that’s a hard concept to get your brain around when you’re the New York Times and you’re determined to see evil and deceit in everything that happens in the White House.
The mad mullahs scoffed. Ha! The U.S. thinks it can hurt Iran by reimposing sanctions?
Laughable!
It’s almost as if the mainstream media have a narrative to protect regardless of the facts. But that can’t be true because then they’d be propagandists and not the fearless protectors of objective truth they keep telling us they are.
Two things:
First, they did it all on their own time and used no taxpayer dollars, so don’t even start with me about that.
Some of the NFL’s anthem-kneelers have expressed frustration that their critics – caught up in issues like troops, veterans and Francis Scott Key – are missing their real message. They want people to get past the patriotic themes and hear what they’re saying about police officers.
According to Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats, the benefits the average worker received from last year’s tax cut have amounted to mere “crumbs.” They’re so small they’re hardly even worth getting. They’re worse than useless because they’re so insulting!
There are things you’ve always heard, and probably never much thought about, but for the most part figured must be true. It’s the inevitable result of an information age in which all kinds of notions float about and people have little time to think very deeply about any one of them.
Just in case you thought Colorado would stop attacking religious freedom because the Supreme Court told it to: Nope.
Mere weeks after being smacked down by the U.S. Supreme Court for its oppression of Christian baker Jack Phillips, the state is coming after Phillips again. The first time it was because he wouldn’t bake a gay wedding cake. This time it’s because, in an obvious setup, someone demanded that he bake a cake celebrating transgenderism.
There is a difference between opinion writing and propaganda.
Opinion writing reflects the independent opinion of the individual or institution expressing itself. It’s for the purpose of persuading, but also of letting you know the bias of the writer.
The media are trying pretty hard to convince you the Trump economy isn’t as good as the evidence says it is. They want you to ignore GDP growth and focus on “wage stagnation,” even though wages aren’t as much an indication of overall prosperity as they are the state of the labor market and its ability to be productive. Also, “wages” are only one measure of how much people are earning, and it’s an increasingly anachronistic measure given the changing state of the economy.
With everything else the left is incensed about these days, you could be forgiven for missing this one, but for the past few years it’s been a very trendy liberal cause to rail against tipping. I suppose this stems from the fact that customers freely choose the amounts they tip servers, and to a large extent it’s merit-based. Since the left assumes just about everyone is a seething racist, they also assume you’re making your tipping decisions not on the basis of how well you were served, but on the basis of the skin color or gender of the server or whatever.
Kudos to the Wall Street Journal for publishing this, not because it’s a good idea, but because the American public in general and the business community in particular should understand the thinking of some of the people who are trying to worm their way into the White House.
Let’s see. On the one hand, we have the Turkish lira cratering and the Turkish economy in collapse while its financial institutions struggle to maintain stability. On the other hand we have the prospect that one country might force its people to buy Samsung tablets instead of iPhones.
And I didn’t think I had a lot in common with Donald Trump.
Apparently he drinks the caffeinated version, which just goes to show no cokehead is perfect.
If you’re starting to get the idea that Omarosa Manigault-Newman is a reckless person – not only with her words but also with the broader decisions she makes in her life – I think you’re getting the idea.
Sometimes the media just make things up, and when they do we properly call it fake news.
But just as often, the media create news, and this is a slightly different but still dishonest beast.
Excessively high interest rates are not good. You probably already figured that.
I think we’re mainly talking about a change in labeling.
At any point 10 years ago, or 20 years ago, or 30, or 40, you could have asked Democrats if they preferred a system largely driven by state command-and-control, or by the free market, and they would have told you they preferred the former.
To a point, that is. He still crashed. He still died.
But apparently the mere fact that he managed to start the engine has Horizon Air executives scratching their heads. That is not an easy thing to do, nor are some of the in-flight maneuvers he pulled off to the astonishment of those on the ground.
