No single person is responsible for a broken American criminal justice system.
Nor is any single political party, although the Democrats had a major role in the breakage. The Republican Party followed suit because that's what they generally do.

Lawlessness is a state of disorder due to disregard of the law.
That is an incomplete definition. For it neither takes into consideration the nature of the law disregarded, nor the vigor with which an unjust law is sometimes enforced.
Bad law, vigorously enforced, moves a nation toward tyranny.
Good law, negligently ignored, destroys respect for the law.
Very bad laws ruled Nazi Germany between 1933-1945.
Ernst Fraenkel was born into a Jewish family in Cologne, Germany on December 26, 1898. Having served in the German Army during World War I, he thereby avoided the anti-Semitic persecutions of the mid-1930s. Although America's Democratic Party, in their effort to capture the Executive Branch of the Federal Government, has used several tactics patented by the National Socialist German Workers' Party (AKA Nazis) movement between 1933 and 1945, this is not about Germans, then or now.
So, put Hitler and his immediate European precursor, Italian Fascist dictator Benito Mussolini, aside because this is about now, and all of us.
The title above is wishful thinking without which it would read “America’s 21st Century Demise”.
The choice between the road leading to awaking v. demise is in the hands of the U.S. Supreme Court.
It alone is the last hope for justice in a Presidential election that was thoroughly corrupted by a political party whose hatred for President Trump, based solely on what he’s been trying to do, has led to extremes only short of assassination.
In a split decision, the Supreme Court of the United States will not act to stop the now obvious corruption of the 2020 Presidential election.
Their explanation for inaction will be to claim that their jurisdiction does not include intervention in a national election conducted at the state level.
Individual states, they will rule, are responsible for managing their own voting processes, without federal intervention—even when there appears to have been gross irregularities.

There were several clues that something like this was coming.
Even before his election in 2016, opposition to Trump gathered to meet in the office of then President Obama.
After Trump’s election, that opposition went active.
The title of an article that posted here on September 17, 2018 asked: “When it ends, where will all the hate go?”
It began: “America’s weariness with the Mueller Investigation grows daily. Sooner or later, though, the saga will end. Then what? Where will all the Left’s accumulated hatred go?”
Now we know the answer to that question.
The Republican Party didn’t win the White House.
Its political class barely competed. That is, with the exception of a few GOP members of the House and Senate who stood up with, and for, Trump.
A Senator from Arkansas. Another from Texas. A third from Missouri. Ranks get thin quick after them.
Prelate Ludwig Kass, a Roman Catholic (RC) priest and Deputy in the German Reichstag in 1933, was elected leader of the RC’s Centre Party as a compromise candidate. He quickly moved to the right—toward the Nazi Party—and pushed for a Concordat with the Nazis. His goal was to secure the future of the Roman Catholic Church. He supported the independence of the German executive from the legislature. Another leader of the Centre Party, Eugen Bolz, Minister-President of Württemberg, said, “I have been of the opinion that the parliament cannot solve severe domestic political problems. If a dictator for ten years were a possibility—I would want it.” So, long before 30 January 1933, the Centre Party ceased to be the bulwark of Weimar democracy.
